Thanks, folks.
Spent the day [willingly] cutting a hole in a wall in the living room. Tonight, the outside air is kept at bay by a dirty sweatshirt stuffing the 14.5x14.5" square hole, but tomorrow, I expect I will read a chapter or two from The Fellowship of the Ring by firelight, with the smoke safely drafting through this same space, up and out my newly installed chimney pipe. Once this is done, I can buckle down and really start knocking out those winter projects.
