Got a bowyer recommendation?

So I'm in the enviable(?) position of "buy what toys you can now, because you're about to go into a years-long 'be responsible' phase."
Anyhow, one of those toys is a proper bow.
In the perfect world it would be an WETA-elven-ish recurve scaled down to modern recurve dimensions (55-60") , minus all the vine tracery foofaraw in a gorgeous redbrown magical wood. In the real world it will be something a touch more mundane (not least 'cause it won't be made out of rubber like the film props ) - but I still think I want to get a bit more romantic than a plain old flatbow.
Budget is around $400 - lesser is nice, more is... hard to manage.
Anyone got a suggestion for craftsmen or vendors to look into?
