Greetings, Kleenur! I signed on today to discover that you've been follwing a trail of breadcrumbs!
On page 5 of that issue of the newsletter, you'll find a drawing of the pattern. The two white seams don't have to be included...you can literally cut a half-circle out of fabric, and then cut the neck hole, the shoulder seam, and sew that seam together [minus hemming] and have a functional cloak. Hope this all helps!Taurinor wrote:Here’s the issue where Greg talked about the design and the like - http://www.budgetauthenticity.org/mers/ ... nter17.pdf
The Bocksten cloak is an extant garment that we’ve all be referencing - it’s a 14th century half circle cloak with a sewn neck closure.
Now the sword shall come from under the cloak.

Thanks! I am incredibly excited to have a cloak like this. I might even try my hand at some sort of edge stitching. A couple of years ago I made a cloak pin out of some heavy gauge copper grounding wire, which could serve as a pin until I can manage a star. Over the past couple of years I have slowly been putting a kit together. Right now I have pants, a shirt, an over tunicy thing, and have a bow in progress, along with the aforementioned cloak pin. I actually have a warm weather cloak that is....meh....I have belts that will serve, and a pouch. All I REALLY need is a pair of boots, and I will have a serviceable soft kit which I can build on. I woudl like a better quality over tunic than I have now, but don't even know where to look. I got this one:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M9 ... UTF8&psc=1 . on amazon, and like the look if not the material.

I’d suggest starting up a new “Soft Kit†thread if you’re looking for recommendations! That way the thread can focus on what you’re looking to do with your kit and the likekleenur wrote: I woudl like a better quality over tunic than I have now, but don't even know where to look.
