What would you call this?

Im being purposefuly vague in my approach here because I dont want to influence responses.

What would you call the item that is strapped acrossthe pictured gentleman's chest and is holding his blanket bundle?

Generally: a burden strap
Specifically: a ( likely finger woven ) tumpline, North American native, c. AD 17th- 18th c.

I think of a tumpline as something that goes across the forehead.

Same thing I do believe: just a question as to whether your neck or shoulders are more sore at the moment someone chooses to draw you. :)

Hey all,

Thanks, that was what i was thinking. But when i searched online for Tumplines the only thing that was kicked back to me was the tumpline in the over the head fashion.
