Now, by "still hunting" we are really referring to game stalking.
This is an old book by Theodore S. Van Dyke that I went through years ago. I've just found it available free online.

The story takes you along on an experienced hunter's journey after that one buck, showing him use all the ancient hunting techniques of patience, craft and stealth.
Great reading for a Middle-Earth Ranger, I think.
