Medieval Walking

I think this issue has come up several times- how to walk properly in non-modern footwear.

Good find! I've run into this as well: I subscribe to Roland's excellent Youtube channel.

I got this to say: It's limiting to say that this is "medieval walking"; it's really how people walked before we put thick, clump soles and heels on all our boots, then built shoes with various types of foam plastic. It goes all the way back.

A culture that makes its shoes from scratch, or relies on bare feet, can be expected to walk differently than we moderns do generally.

Also, keep in mind also that our modern shoes have a lot more traction than most "medieval" shoes, and climbing a grassy slope in turnshoes or moccasins I think requires a different technique.
