'Breathing Forest' Filmed in Canada

By Tim Binnall

A mesmerizing video out of Canada shows a strange natural phenomenon in which it appears as if the ground in a forest is breathing. The remarkable footage was reportedly captured by an individual named Jean Arthur in Sacre-Coeur, Quebec. After popping up online last week, the amazing video has quickly gone viral and conjured comparisons to the magical worlds of Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings.

Those fearful of a forest coming to life and possibly feasting on humans can breath easier as meteorologists say that the strange scene can be pretty easily explained. According to weather experts, the 'breathing' forest is something of an optical illusion caused by a combination of strong winds and the ground being heavily saturated.

The 'inhaling' and 'exhaling' motion of the ground occurs because the wind is pushing the top of the tree with such tremendous force that the forest floor gets pulled upwards and then settles down to proverbial Earth. Should the wind be strong enough or occur over an extended period of time, the 'breathing' ground may eventually give way and lead to the tree toppling over, meaning that one who comes upon such a sight may not want to marvel at it for too long.

Cool! Thanks for the link :P
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.
