I usually avoid metal fasteners in that region of the stand for this reason, as I've seen the same happen several times! Deeply set screws are a pretty safe bet, otherwise I prefer just pegged in place, which also makes it easy to break down for transport (or can be glued as well if permanent).
Yep, I pegged this one. I have to make a new deck 3/4" thick so it isn't as flexible and I'll peg that one too.

That’s my problem to. Water bottles aren’t my regular cutting medium and the stand I threw together is much to light.

Weeeell that was fun.
I'm using the game as an excuse and motivator to take better care of my blades, and get out using them more regularly. Good motivation, good goals. After a first set of failed attempts last week, I saved up more bottles and spent some time working on my edge, as I'm sure it was contributing to the problem. Could get through the sequence fine, but just COULD NOT get the last two to stay on the stand. Back at it today, and once again no dice. SO stinkin' close...I felt like they almost fell off in slow motion!
Ok so it's a descending cut to the top bottle and a rising false edge cut to the bottom bottle.
Good luck guys.

Since everyone is using longswords I used one to be consistent, but also did it with a single-hander for good measure.

Explain to me how in Udun you guys are managing to stack your bottles cap-to-cap. I've wasted the better part of an afternoon just trying to stack these dumb things!

I definitely spent more time trying to balance them than I did actually cutting.

Me too it takes a lot of time. I definitely won't pick that in my next trick. Sorry guys.

I think It makes a difference, though. If I stack them both upright, the wider bottom sends the lower bottle flying.
