Hello From Dale

Post by jbook »

Hello,
My name is Jake Book and I am a French and Indian War Reenactor who has wanted to do Middle-Earth for a very long time. A friend and I have started a company called "The Dale Company." We portray the men of Dale during the War of The Ring. We have our kits but we have no pictures at the moment but I will post some soon. So know, Rangers of the North that the Men of Dale are your allies.

Hail and Well Met, Man of Dale! Little has reached our ears of the Men who live in the shadow of the Lonely Mountain, and of your struggles with the Enemy! Come, sit by our fires and tell your tales...

Cannot wait to see your kits either! 8)

Our King Brand sends his regards to the great Rangers. We have been fighting off companies of Easterlings and Orc raiding parties that attack our small outlying villages. In Dale there is no "army" but rather every man able to carry a sword is our army. We are a militia style community. When a threat is posed we ride out to meet it but we do not go looking for a fight. If there are any questions you have please ask.

I have told him to so I suspect he will soon. Just to explain a little about our group...because I am a historical reenactor most of my gear is 18th Century (hunting shirts, haversacks, pants etc...) that I wear differently than I would at a French and Indian War Reenactment or a Rev War Reenactment to make it look like it came from Middle-Earth. We believe strongly in making our gear look authentic. We use zero modern materials or weaponry. With the men of Dale we have had to sort of create our own look and create a culture almost because there is very little written about Dale. Also we read Tolkien extensively because as historians we feel that he is the primary source for knowledge of what all this stuff looked like. But sometimes we have to guess. Feel free to ask anymore questions. We should have some pictures up within the next couple of days.

Welcome Jake. It's good to have the folk of Dale represented here.

Mae govannen!

I think I might've met you. You were in the middle of arguing with some torqued-off elves about dwarves popping out of their barrels in your town when I walked up and asked if anyone had any pipe weed handy...
Now the sword shall come from under the cloak.

That would have been my father. I was yet to be born but my father told me many stories and strange happenings during the time of Thorin and The company of Dwarfs.

Just a quick note I should have pictures by late Sunday night or early Monday morning. My friend and I are going to do a little Sunday afternoon trek into the wild of Mirkwood. We may be joined by a Wood Elf.
