Re: Hoard Key

Beautiful work Gulli!

Eofor, I know you have quite some skill at woodworking. Do you intend to build the actual chest to make the key functional?

It's such a gorgeous leather, Eofor. It's going to a well-deserved home. I'm looking forward to seeing it mounted!

Re: Tomas Hijo art

Dang, and here I just bought a themed tarot deck. Looks like I might have to pick up another even though, as you say, I'm not much a believer in that sort of thing.

What beautiful art! Thank you for posting this!

Re: Playing cards

I was also curious after you posted this and with a little Googling, found this excellent answer to a very similar question. Most surprising to me is the reference to chess and a chessboard. https://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/94489/is-there-reference-to-sport-in-middle-earth Yes, there are re...

Re: Dúnedain Settlements OUTSIDE the Angle?

About 1600 years before most of our personas, but there is precedent for Dúnedain hiding and living in the Old Forest outside of Buckland at least for a short time. A great host came out of Angmar in 1409, and crossing the river entered Cardolan and surrounded Weathertop. The Dúnedain were defeated ...

Re: Leather Boots from Armstreet

Looks great! They certainly match the description of Aragorn at the Prancing Pony. Save for one thing...
high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud.
Now to get out there and use them!

I dig it! I enjoy names that are more on the fun side versus BloodEagle Ravenous Warlord Odinsson or whatever haha.

Re: Rangers of Ithilien posting

Personally, I would put it in Dúnedain Culture. I believe we already have a couple topics on that culture there anyway. Now if it was Gondorian culture at large, maybe in Other Human but it’s a case by case basis since a large section of the Gondorian populace is Dúnedain.

While I adhere to Eofor's method myself, an alternate method that I also like is Mike Everest's here.

Truth be told, I still favor the twisting to get a nice tight wrap even going down.

Re: On Elves, Bloodlines, & Beards

Interesting thoughts all round. To be honest, I'm far too attached to my beard / too repelled by my baby face to ever shave for book-accuracy. I personally have been writing a very mixed heritage for Cimrandir's backstory to specifically address that. Good to know that I wouldn't be alone in the bus...

Elvish knives of the Ainu

So I know we've talked about a Japanese influence on Elvish design before. While not Japanese, I thought some of these knives of the Ainu, and specifically some of the decorations, seem rather Elvish. Though maybe I'm still viewing it through the lens of the movies. Knives and swords of the Ainu - [...
