Re: Finally. New sword unveiling.

I love it! I'm so glad to see more cordwork popping up. Nothing against tooling but proper cordwork looks amazing and is by far my favorite type of decoration. The sword is just phenomenal as well and I love that flair at the guard. Congrats on the new sword and scabbard!

Re: Merry Christmas!!! (2021)

A bit late here but I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I love that cookbook and cookpot Elleth! Let us know if any of those recipes are a real winner. I'd love to make a meal from 1906.

Re: Anyone making anything fun lately?

Why yes I am! I'm currently working on a nice pillbox hat to keep my head warm with the same wool I used for caedmon's hat. I'm drafting up a new leather pouch based on the Sutton Hoo purse lid. I'm going to try to do cordwork on the flap which is slightly nerve-wracking. Need to figure out what des...

Re: Amazon's Wheel of Time Series

Got kinda bored after the fourth episode and haven't finished the series yet. Anyone watch it to the end? Is it worth it to continue?

Agreed. Looks quite similar but I'd love to know more about the links between this helmet and the Professor.

Re: Fur ideas

I'd hazard a guess at that just being a fur lined duster but I don't know much of 19th century mountain main clothing so it's just a guess. You might take some inspiration from the skin garments found at Møgelmose that were dated to the 3rd century. They were sewn with the fur facing inward, contrar...

Re: Torches and light sources

Lindybeige isn't my favorite but this is a pretty good demonstration on why torches weren't really a thing despite being ubiquitous in movies and D&D.

Re: On leatherworking?

Well, I will leave it to more knowledgeable folks than I regarding the specifies of scabbard construction as I've never done it myself but as for ideas, there are a multitude of Ranger items that can be made from leather. Pouches, quivers, bracers, etc. I'm sure a search of past forum threads will g...

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

What a cool time for both of you! Iodo, no matter how short the trip is, I always enjoy seeing you out and about in kit. Caedmon, I would love to have enough snow to do something like that. It looks like so much fun!

Re: Amazon's Wheel of Time Series

I've seen the four available episodes. I read the first two books ages ago in high school but never finished the series so I'll refrain from judging the faithfulness to the books. As a fantasy, it's been interesting and I'll keep watching for such. But man, the whole costuming department needs to be...
