Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

Absolutely gorgeous scenery! Reminds me a lot of the areas around here in CO - but then, in Utah you’re pretty darned close to us out here!

Wow! That’s an impressive array of uses!
I admit I’m tempted now. My only real concern would be permanence.

Re: A proper Dúnedain waterskin..

Buy some waxed cheese like Edam or Gouda, eat the cheese and use the wax. It has the edge on Brewer's pitch as its soft below room temperature. I remember being told by a Bagpiper (EM not Highland) that was what he used to bed his reeds in with. Hah! That’s a fascinating idea! Would never have thou...

Re: D&D item weights are amusing.

Incidentally, this is a fun little article in which the author very nearly collides head-first with our hobby without even realizing it, and he himself notes the amusingly huge difference between the weight of what he actually carried on his outing (about 25 lbs) and what the D&D manual claims h...

Re: A proper Dúnedain waterskin..

I mean that was certainly my first inclination. But I’m just kinda’ paranoid now since every single time I look up whether a given brand of silicone sealant is food-safe I get a totally different answer.

Re: A proper Dúnedain waterskin..

Okay, follow-up here: I’m dying to dive into this project, but the one thing that’s holding me up is concern about getting a good seal between the wooden mouthpiece and the plastic liner (polyester, I am told by the listing). I had initially intended to tie it tightly with some kind of string or cor...

Re: Why so rough?

I’m so sorry to hear about the accident! Hope you’re patching up okay! As for the axe question, In general I agree with Eofor. I think they wanted the weapons and props in the films to help tell a certain story about the people carrying them, so they went for very hard, angular, brutal geometry with...

Good thinking! Thanks folks!
Honestly I may end up getting one of each and whichever one I don’t use I’ll probably convert and sell in my Etsy shop.

Re: A proper Dúnedain waterskin..

It's super nice Manv. I love little well made unique things like that. Right? Definitely me as well. Now I just need to decide whether I want to use a 1 or 2 liter bota bag for the conversion. I feel like the 2 liter may just be HONKIN’ ENORMOUS, but the 1 liter seems just a little small. Hmmmmm…

Re: A proper Dúnedain waterskin..

My mouthpiece and stopper from Holmgard Trading came in today! I’m excited to get started on the conversion project! (Now I just have to get my hands on a bota bag).

Re: Silent watcher over peaceful lands… (pic heavy)

I often see little stories in photos, I don't have the skills to take those stories long but I think it adds a lot. Suddenly you can place the location and the mood of the subject, it goes from a picture to a tale. The circle is on private property near our capital. The owners had plant equipment a...

Re: Silent watcher over peaceful lands… (pic heavy)

OHHHH I LOVE THIS. What a fantastic little story. Really paints a picture of the atmosphere surrounding the Barrow Downs and that whole region, and the potential attitude of the Dúnedain towards it. Beautiful pictures as well! Where, pray tell, did you find such lovely standing stones in your neck o...

Re: D&D item weights are amusing.

I was a 2nd ed. Runequest player, encumbrance was based on bulk not weight ( Sierra's hank of rope would be one 'Thing' for example, the same as a sword, a bucket or a bag of rice) That way you can't carry off one fourteenth share of a dragon's hoard in your knapsack....... Unless its one stone Wel...

That sword is FRIGGING IMPRESSIVE. Absolutely gorgeous work all around, as usual! And you continue to have one of the most grounded, realistic, and dramatic looking kits I’ve seen around here! Can’t wait to see more!~
