Re: A bit of Shire goodness
@Ringulf, are you a pilot? My dad is a boat driver for the local pilot's association. He thought about getting qualified to become a pilot himself, but couldn't stand to leave us for pilot school in the east and then shipping out as an able seaman.

Re: A Ranger's falchion?
Iodo, thanks for the positivity. I see you're partial to blackened steel...Probably the dwarf in ya! Elleth and Peter, both of you make good points. I'm a historian, and my particular preference for swords trends towards the more complex-hilted swords of the 18th and 19th centuries(particularly midc...

A Ranger's falchion?
So, I've been developing my persona and I've mostly got it worked out, it can be summarized thusly: younger Ranger on patrol, injured in combat, never healed right, uses his disability to deflect attention/get information. That said, particularly if Aristan(how's this for a name by the by?) is going...

Re: Elenglin - Sword of Westernesse
Elleth....WOW. That's all I can really say. Starglint is a stunning blade, and may it serve you well. I've always liked single-handed swords with a broad fuller like this one. The inscription is awe-inspiring. May it serve you well in the long watches of the night!

Re: Cloak hoods .. how did you sew yours?
I love all the cloak discussion, especially the idea of a separate cloak/hood. Elleth, mind sharing the pattern that you used for the hood that you made Straelbora?

Re: Trail occupations?
This is something I've been debating a lot with myself and how my disability will work into my persona. I've got a pretty bad limp, but even the use of my stout cane(which will be replaced with a sturdy staff when money isn't an issue), I am relatively quiet. I used to regularly sneak upon my foster...

What I suppose really "sells" the updated pouch to me is the little tip on the bottom. Gorgeous work as always, Ursus!

Re: Pipe smoking
I smoke relatively irregularly, however, I normally buy all of my tobaccania from smokingpipes.com, which has a great selection of both pipes and tobacco for a relatively low cost. I prefer the Dunhill blends, largely Nightcap and Early Morning Pipe, as well Peterson Sunset Breeze, if I'm in the moo...
