Try a light coat of olive oil. Repeat daily for a week or so. The oil will permeate the wood over time so continue to do it for the week. Then check by buffing with a light cloth after letting it sit for an hour after oiling. It should have a nice sheen to it . Depending on how dry the pipe is you m...

How about throwing some rocks into your under bed fire pit. Once the stones are heated they should give up heat a little longer so you won't have to feed the pit or stir up the coals as often, giving you a better.
