Re: herbal potions, poultices & other divers preparations

the pouch I got cost $100, shipping included. When I considered that the pouch I was replacing (a buffalo hide one made by the folks at Bald Mountain Moccasins - they make sodhopper-like mocs) was about $80, and nowhere near as nice (machine stitched, the pattern stamped on the leather, and not made...

Re: herbal potions, poultices & other divers preparations

I was just wondering if there were a small "kit" that you could reccomend for some essentials that we might be able to assemble and make a small leather or canvas pouch or container to house and carry them on the trail. Just some half dozen or so, of the most useful subdtances, be they oi...

Re: herbal potions, poultices & other divers preparations

This sounds brilliant! Have you ever considered opening an Etsy shop? I've actually been planning to set something up on http://www.poppyswap.com - a much better, vetted herbal "etsy" type site (actually, I ~have~ a shop set up there, but haven't gotten around to taking pictures of salves...

herbal potions, poultices & other divers preparations

hey all... just putting it out there that if anyone is interested in herbal tinctures, salves, oils, or other plant medicines, I offer a diverse array of preparations. These are all made by me, and probably about 90% of what I make comes from plants I wildcrafted from the woods and fields myself. Ev...

Re: What we have here.....

I'm primarily an herbalist/wildcrafter/medicine maker/wild plant eater (that's my day to day profession), but also do some leatherwork, hunt, brew, do some natural building (cob/waddle & daub/strawbale) and smoke a longstem pipe quite well.

Re: Quarterstaff

I've enjoyed the British Quarterstaff Association's page: ` http://www.quarterstaff.org/gallery/videos/index.html Some nice info on making them, also some helpful videos. I'd still hoping to come across a hawthorne straight enough to craft a staff from, but so far, no luck. I particularly like this ...

Re: edible whatsits

Oh awsome!! I belong to the Herbalist yahoo group. Plantain has been discussed many times on there. which one? My favorite herb email lists (high volume, but the best overall information) are henriette kress's herb list (http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/herb) and the American Herbalist Gui...

Re: edible whatsits

There are books about Tommie Bass that'd be must haves; Darryl Patton wrote one, and he'd be a great resource if you could connect with him, as he's also skills oriented: http://thesouthernherbalist.com/ Phyllis Light is also phenomenal, and is working on a book on southern folk herbalism. http://ww...

Re: edible whatsits

Hi all... I've not posted here before; generally just drool over the garb. But did want to say that deer do eat plants and fungi that are poisonous to humans, so don't rely on that. Animals often eat things that can be harmful to use, and things that we can eat may be harmful to animals. It's not a ...
