Re: MRL Deal of the day
OK now! you have a bonnified Larp geek here, remember different strokes for different folks! We all love Prf. T, but it is a big world out there!lol! I certainly didn't mean to sound as if I held any disdain for the direction MRL has taken. I feel quite the opposite actually, as I still hold a fond...

Re: Indy Moot 2011
I'm pretty excited by this prospect, as even though it's not exactly around the corner for me (~8 hour drive), it's still feasible for a weekend trip. What sort of minimum number of persons would you be looking for to go forward with it?

Re: MRL Deal of the day
Not bad at all, i like. I wander if anyone has clued MRL into the fact that faux leather boots, foam swords, and steam punk has really hurt their respectability? :  I think that, particularly in this economy, respectability takes a backseat to profitability. Many makers are hurting or closing ...

Re: MRL Deal of the day
If I remember the movie trivia, the hero sword was 8-10 pounds and they made it as such for Arnold to swing convincingly on screen, they were sharp too. Alot of accidents on set. The weight of the film originals has nothing to do with Arnold's physique and everything to do with the hilt components ...

I was reading a publication of the Jamestowne Society the other day which contained something relevant to this discussion.

Re: Building the Village of Bree
This is of interest to me. I'm not so far as to be unable to easily make a weekend trip, and I have experience in timberframing and the skills requisite to such. My broadaxe could use some TLC, but I did coincidentally just sharpen my adze. I've got a barking spud or two around and could make more i...

Re: Horses
I've always thought of Freisians as the perfect ranger horse, being nimble yet sturdy. They are very capable of carrying a ranger in full armor while cantering through the forest. Their black coloring makes them good for camouflage. They are also a Medieval breed and were used by knights. Just a fe...

Appreciation
Though my level of contribution may not reflect it, I've been hanging around here for some time. While my various obligations keep me from checking in here regularly, I'd like to say something now which is perhaps overdue. Thank you. Thanks to all of you who, for the past several years, have kept th...

Still looking to get this done?
I can take care of that Albion moat blade, if you don't mind sending it back where it came from.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: A parchment Middle Earth map?
Fake vellum and parchment is I don't know what. But the real stuff is animal skin. Modern synthetic vellum is a stabilized paper product containing cotton. I've got tubes of it sitting next to me here. Thank you for bringing up this point though, since I, at least, assumed that by "parchment&q...

Re: A parchment Middle Earth map?
A "parchment" map is easily made with some household materials. What I've done in the past is photocopy what I wish to "age" and then abuse it a bit (spindle, fold, and mutilate). I then steep a strong solution of ordinary tea, and soak the paper in it. The edges can be torn off ...
