Re: Quid Est Veritas

I am Celtic-Pagan and proud of it! However I also proudly study World Religions, and as a recovering Christian, I will still work with Christian Priests from time to time. While Tolkien was a devout Christian, he did not let it bother his stories, and neither shall I. I stand with Odigan, as we so o...

Re: Indy Moot 2011 - RECAP and PICS Now Included

I agree with Odigan and Ringulf concerning campfires, as I myself have camped during rainstorms in woods with leaves wet and thick. Even Smokey the bear knows changes in moisture make every day different, and the NPS does controlled burnings now to reduce uncontrolled forest fires. I have written a ...

Ah Ranger Metcalf, we shaint forget the horses and other hooved creatures, companions or beasts of burden. Rue the day that they be forgotten. Indeed, they shall be remembered!

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/N-dx3l-pGLxwPaUw2rV2XQ?feat=directlink Well met, Eledhwen! Come visit 'Ranger Rock' (Jefferson's Rock). I was a landscape engineer in the Air Force and in the civilian world, and knowing some history I can testify that Thomas Jefferson as a Surveyor used numerou...

HARPERS FAERIE (Free & Open Gathering Area)

Hear ye, here yee! I will take this opportunity to extend an open invitation, year-round to ALL MIDDLE EARTH RANGERS to come camp or visit 'HARPERS FAERIE' (Harpers Ferry, WV middle of the Appalachian Trail in the Tri-State DC area). Although I have traveled far to distant lands as a ranger, I learn...

Re: Indy Moot 2011

Drogo, that sounds like a neat place. This "Gatherings" forum is for just such opportunities. Go ahead and start a thread in here so you can tell us about the place in a bit more detail. Thank you Greg! I will do that, I am trying to get over my hesitancy to post in this group. Thank you ...

Re: Indy Moot 2011

Great site there in Indiana! Alas I will not be attending, but I was made aware of this by Odigan (credit to him), and have considered it. I am sure it will be a most impressive gathering of rangers. However I will take this opportunity to extend an open invitation, year-round to ALL MIDDLE EARTH RA...

Re: edible whatsits

Great postings fellow rangers! I have used Poke Berries for staining a leather belt, and I have sauteed the young leaves with butter and eaten them; they taste good with no side-effects; Young poke-berry leaves are fleeting (matter of days or weeks) just like fiddle-head ferns, morrels, and berries ...

Re: Ranger Fitness?

Here hear, Odigan! Your universal workout philosophy based on Parkour is similar to my understanding and practice of Jeet Kun Do. The way Bruce Lee described personalized style and workout routines based on what fits the individual. It doesnt matter what shape, size, or age if you can still do somet...

Re: "First Annual" Ranger Photo Contest

Odigan's Death, or the Fall of Odigan is my vote. His words are strong and true, not just about reality, but also true to Tolkien's Middle Earth. The "good guys" do not always win. A lesson for any age.
