Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

Oh yeah, my 'tricks' Ringulf was mentioning is pretty simple: I insterted a 1/4 inch thick brass plate into the hole where the axe handle goes. Then I cut each curvey end starting at the sharpened end and working up to the middle until my flame just broke through to the axe handle hole. I turned my ...

Re: Brandwyn's leather pouches projects

Thanks everyone. Just to answer the question of the dye, it is Fiebings Tan dye, but I only put one coat on the sides of the pouch and 2 coats on the front and back, so likely if I go over it again it will even out, but I think I am going to leave it as is. I kind of like it that way. Thanks for the...

Re: Brandwyn's leather pouches projects

Thank you for the comments everyone. They are very encouraging! Pete's right, anything will mat it. In my experience, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but if you want it to continue looking like suede, don't put anything on it. OTOH, if waterproofing is more important to you, you can rub in shoe ...

Brandwyn's leather pouches projects

So I spent all this money on quarter cow hides and am finally getting around to making something with it all - well with some of it anyway. Check out the belt pouch I am making. These are the first pictures - considerable assembly still required: http://i45.tinypic.com/2dhu4nd.jpg http://i47.tinypic...

Re: Photo/Story Contest Poll

Congratulations Neume from Ringulf and myself. We really enjoyed your story and it was very well done! (Ringulf would post but he is up here on my computer and is having trouble logging into MERF - something about being locked out because he tried the password too many times. Would the moderator ple...

Re: Ringulf's Photo story 2012

I loved it Ringulf! So what did happen to 'Rosey' me??? (snicker) Neume, that was from a few different LARP's (Live Action Role Play) that we attended and took pictures of. If you want more info on them send a PM to me or Ringulf. They are lots of fun if you like to act and either kill or run away f...

Re: Brandwyn's photo contest 2012 entry - Tournament Day!

Aw, thank you My Lord Kaellin. I love to write and I am cooking up a little story for Brandwyn out doing her scouting job . I look on her as a mounted ranger of sorts, though she is Rohirrim and not Dunedain. I plan to post up more about her background and this was a good exercise to introduce her a...

Brandwyn's photo contest 2012 entry - Tournament Day!

(Whew! Finished just under the wire and in spite of a five min power outage...) (OOC: I just learned of this contest on the last day we can enter it - mostly because I am just very unobservant - and since there was no time to get out to take some ranger type pictures of myself, I went with what I al...

I love your writing! If you ever get the urge to explore Ranger's Apprentice world you should come over to Halt's Playground. We would love to have another good writer to interact with. http://araluenrpg.proboards.com/index.cgi I love Daffodil, she seems very much like my Rosey Bramble character I p...

Re: wool

I know this is an old thread, but I can't help but share this: My sister is insane. She raises sheep, angora rabbits and Llamas and Alpacas and shears them, spins the wool into thread and then weaves it into fabric and makes stuff with it, and then sells the stuff. (Yeah, it ain't cheap!) (well mayb...

Re: How are your skills?

Great list Le-Loup! (Although I would add horseback riding to the list – but then I AM biased that way. Grin!) This thread reminds me of an AD&D campaign I participated in during college many, many years ago. We had to create a character on paper that represented exactly who we were in real li...
