Re: Leather Wrap Gaunlets.

Meet the Classic Mora. I know the sheath is nasty plastic, but you'll be replacing that anyway And to try a wrench this thread back OT...... Any chance you could do that buckles tutorial ? I have a Classic Mora knife blank that I will be making into a knife with wooden handle and sheath similar to ...

Re: Dwarven Totem Animals/Nature

My vote is for Raven or crows... as a mountain dweller, crows alert you of danger, incoming people ect. All the wild boars do is wreck shit, muck up the watering holes and cause general mayhem. Ok, I'm confused. You say your vote is for raven or crows, but then you give such a compelling argument F...

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

Hah, I think that's a great depiction of a Dunedain Ranger from Stirling's Emberverse series redhand. Nicely done. I was not familiar with this series and after looking it up, I'm adding to my reading list. As I found it described "... another survivor happens to be an archery enthusiast from ...

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

It's not so much that I want to adopt the new to a LOTR character or age,… You mean you don’t want to give Aragorn an AR-15?! Haha. So, since this cloaked worked so well, I think I’ll go ahead and make one out of “Mossy Oak Bottomland” camo, line it for a bit more warmth, and waterproof to give mys...

This may be a bit too modern. Haha.
My cloak and leather wrap gauntlets go great with modern hunting gear. Not just worn for a picture. I’ve been hunting all afternoon in this and will again tomorrow morning.

Re: Leather Wrap Gaunlets.

I'm thinking of going down the sgian-achlais route (not my photos) Hmm. I've never seen an armpit knife. Interesting. I will 100% sweat through and it will rust there. haha. I think I'll forego the gauntlet knife. Definitely more rogue/assassin and not what I'm going for. Perhaps a small boot knife...

Re: Leather Wrap Gaunlets.

Thoughts on knives in gauntlets/bracers? Mind you, no Assassin's Creed hidden blade or rogue throwing knife bracers you find in abundance at ren faire. I'm just thinking maybe a small, utility camp knife. Either on the back of the left wrist, or tucked under the end towards the elbow. Thoughts? Yay ...

Re: Dwarven Totem Animals/Nature

that is most likely true, I've done plenty of caving and bats are what makes caves messy, kinda like underground pigeons, but they do keep the insects down I guess They cannot be worse than London Pigeons. Those are a different breed. Swarming servants of the Dark One, they are. As for insects, the...

Re: Water Treatment on the Trail

Even a simple bandana is a great first stage filter to get the particles out. I also know many of us carry some char cloth for fire starting. If you're willing to sacrifice a bit (you may be able to dry it out later, but no guarantees.) it could be wrapped up with a bandana for a bit of additional f...
