Re: Anyone ever try posca?

I did red wine vinegar mixed with water for a few days at the fire station, and it honestly felt like it did hydrate me fairly well, just make sure you get the mixture right so it isn’t too strong

Re: Video on my Kit

I like your kit! It looks like you're going to come out of the swamps and hew a bunch of Harradrim! The fact that your kit is a work in progress makes me feel better about my own. Either way, we're all having fun! Some of my favoirite shirts and trousers are "linen" yoga/hippie clothes. C...

Re: What's everyone working on?

As of right now my MERS kit is taking a small hold while we get settled in our first house “rental sadly”. But it allows us to have a garden and a yard for our dogs, and a little spot to practice archery. Once that is settled I need to refine my Snapsack and add a quiver to it

Re: Equipment of the other cultures

I was going to call this 'weapons of the enemy' but it really applies to any race. In modern times, many military members "go native," so to speak when in a foreign land or at least take a liking to some equipment, food, or mannerisms, if that makes sense. Like many i know have developed ...

Re: No stupid questions? Challenge accepted!

6)What I intend to get out of my treks are to enjoy and experience nature, same as out of kit, but I also want to be as self sufficient and prepared with my kit as modern stuff, my main goal right now is to go on a multi day trip into ocala national forest, probably going to do it when I can also b...

Re: No stupid questions? Challenge accepted!

I’ve been meaning to reply but alas my duties have interfered. 1) no, especially as a ranger of Gondor speaking more than the common tongue seems a bit out there, might study some runes for “coded messages” at one point. 2) I’m in central florida so using southern Gondor, which from my reading is ba...

Re: Keeping Company with a Company of Rangers

I have one about packing too much stuff, I tried to show off and ended up bringing a cast iron skillet and an entire sack of potatoes on a backpacking trip, first one I’ve ever actually done. Ended up where I was scouting for firewood and someone tried to move my pack and almost fell over. Went grea...

Re: New Ranger in Northeast Georgia, USA

Hello there! I am just recently getting into this hobby, though I've had several similar hobbies for quite a while now. I've been a soldier, a camp counselor, a boy scout leader, a farmer, a craftsman of various sorts. I am originally from the Seattle area (fantastic woods and trails there!) but no...

Re: Video on my Kit

Well Done! The spear is often overlooked. I would take the tourniquet out of that pouch, though--it takes too long to get out. Actually, it is best to carry two in case the first one doesn't fully stop the bleed. Maybe add a pressure dressing as well. I haven’t actually gone out with that kit just ...

Re: Hello everyone!

Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the forums Togon, I hope your stay here is fruitful. The white mountains are beautiful this time of the year are they not? They are! But not really too white this time of year. Southern Gondor is hot! Wrlcome. I just found this place as well. It's amazing ...

Re: Clothes vs Costume

I say indefinitely for lack of a better word. I would if possible, resupply and visit a place such as the pony when needed. Basically as you said. Plan for the worst and work towards the best is my approach. I'm focusing on gaining as much knowledge and skill as possible. So I will need less gear. ...

Re: Question on intro bows

My Istvan Toth horsebow is hands down the smoothest shooting bow I have ever held. The fibreglass is well hidden under the leather so it doesn't look modern but something about it just doesn't say middle earth to me (at least not the places I haunt) By comparison I have a small Waterford bow that i...
