Re: Non-fantasy rangers, other hobbies?
I love a good bow and cloak combo, but I also like a good poncho and rifle combo. How about crossbow and camo cloak. https://middleearthrangers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4910 I made modern ranger gear for hunting. Oh great, like I didn't have enough projects on my list, now I gotta add this lol

Re: Non-fantasy rangers, other hobbies?
I did a post-apocalyptic ranger a few years ago. The pics are very blurry otherwise I'd post them. I wore a brown fedora with a pair of brass goggles for the sun and dust. I wore a modified leather sleeveless duster. over a khaki pair of pants and dull gray shirt. For weaponry I had the short sword...

Right out the gate with an amazing reply. I just picked up a k31 Swiss and it's making me yearn for the wide open deserts out west.MiketheBlacksmith wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 3:24 am Yes ,we can do that. Non-fantasy rangers, other hobbies?
Just curious if anyone else here does any non-fantasy ranging, or has any other related hobbies?
For instance. I love a good bow and cloak combo, but I also like a good poncho and rifle combo. Similar idea to being a Ranger, just a different setting.

Re: Happy Birthday to OParnoShoshoi!
Oh gosh, thanks everyone! I treated myself to a few newly ordered kit pieces and once they arrive I'll do some kind of geat dump to show off. Those on the discord have already seen some parts of it.
Again, thanks!
Again, thanks!

Got a lot of my kits stuff squared away, and came into some money and ordered some more stuff. Also got my ticket confirmations for the wife and I. So I'll be there and in full garb, no less! And then we can use this outing to plan future outings in our area! A vicious cycle of outing-based-outings!

Comic book: LumberJanes
Okay so not technically Ranger, but I think it will scratch certain itches and it is cut from a similar cloth as many of us. Basic summary is, a ragtag group of girls goes to an all girls camp. It's implied to be part of some larger organization perhaps, because there's merit badges and a handbook. ...

Oh you know I'll be there! Still got a few more details I'm working on garb-wise, but just broke in stone new boots today. New bow arriving Wednesday. New cloak material tomorrow. It's all coming together. Really the big challenge I'm facing is belts.

Re: Mae govannen from Fornost (-ish)
Oh neat. I've got some great-great-grandparents from Lilihammer (might be a few more generations in there, American Midwest Scandinavian immigrants been here a long time). And that area looks absolutely beautiful for ranging. I know Norway has a hunting culture. Are you able to carry a bow/knife and...

Re: Naming the Company
Specifically rangers in later years were named after their commander (in the US you have Roger's Rangers, etc) as they were an informal band. Like "we need to scout ahead, send so-and-so and his ragtag group of rangers". However I think you'd want to look at earlier sources. Like how did H...

Oh wild. So the hair is left on, coated with pitch, on the INSIDE to create a thick waterproof layer.
