Re: cloak material
WHat Chris said. Cap-Pel fabrics makes a thin, fairly tough brown, green and sorta "carhartt" yellow-y brown color- all of which work great to shed moisture. They DO have a bit of a smell for a while, but once you make it- hang it out in the air for a while, and it fades. It is able to oil...

Re: A question about packs.
You know, that's right! It's been so long since they had any presence I was aware of in the U.S. on the West coast... Indeed, the Compagnie is how I met him (Howe~) some years back- but I can't recall which event it was at. I want to say something in Southern California, but it could have been at Gi...

Re: A question about packs.
Wow. They are pretty proud of that equipment!! Kinda cool, but mighty involved for a minimalist Ranger sort of lifestyle~ I'm thinking I may build a small packframe for doing our Renaissance stuff- mostly as a place to stash stuff during the day, and add a bit to the camp's look. It would be a LOT l...

I can't recall what they sold for before- but I'll take 2 (total) of either material, or mixed.

Re: Leather Question
Yeah- what they've said. Eco-flow is just too finicky for me. I like both the antique stains (for tooled stuff, especially) and Feibings Oil dye. Most Tandy leathers have a color board to look at, too.
And as stated before- slightly moist and warm-ish is wayyy better for an even color!

Re: New Water Bottle Project
Glad to help!
I've made possibly as many as a hundred soft bottles- and about twice that of the hard leather bottles... Figure I could save you a wee bit' o' head pain!
Bestens!

Re: Thinking of Buying a Sword
Understood. I use all of mine in training and for events, so they gotta be solid. Also- as I live in a desert, every single handle shrinks pretty badly, so threaded just plain makes sense for me. Please keep us posted on your new piece! As a final note- to pretty much any randir that wants to come t...

Re: LOTRO co-leveling Ranger Company
I may be free on Sunday evening (PST) after about 7-7:30-ish for a while. It's been so long since I logged in... I'm updating the client now, and will get in so I can check out my toon's names. I can't even remember now!! Do add "Eadylferth", he's my main- and is happy to "twink out&q...

Re: Thinking of Buying a Sword
Heh. You have a windlass... especially an older one. They are not very well-made. Bet the nut only barely fits properly, anyhow... But the nail idea is a temporary fix- I meant to weld the "cap" in place. I usually use a bolt, cut to fit- as they have a lot more "meat" to work wi...

Re: Thinking of Buying a Sword
I know, I know!! We have yet to get the last doublet finished, as we have been doing some pretty major house projects! Let me see... the tinkers are what I prefer to use for my blunt swords- as they dance so well, and are fairly cheap, and are of a rather high quality, especially for the money. The ...

Re: Thinking of Buying a Sword
Do a fake peened "nut". I take the usual socket bolt thingy make it into a sort of flat-sided blob with a bit 'o weld. This way, it can be tightened if necessary, as every single peened blade I've had gets loose, and you can only go so far in tightening it up before the tang may choose to ...

Re: New Water Bottle Project
Some advice on the flexible poly bottles- First off, use a softer leather- as in feel not drape. These will wear through surprisingly fast if you use a crunchy, scratchy leather. I have found elk to be one of the very best for this, followed by deer and then (much lower) bison or suede splits. This ...

Re: LOTRO co-leveling Ranger Company
heh. Sadly- I've not even logged on in a month! Too much metal and wood work going on, and too fried by evening to play! I'll give 'er a go, though! *edit* Does anyone have a ventrilo or whatnot chat server available? The in-game one has issues sometimes-especially in instances- that said, it's stil...
