i dont have an example on hand, but i have heard of a few historic swords having the guard peened to the tang and of the tang being peened to the guard. also regarding messers, quite a few have the guard come down via the blade and held in place by the nagal, and others are 2 piece constructions tha...

Yeah i cannot think of any medieval texts deal with the subject at all. most are for either warfare, dueling or trying to preserve the Martial art.

and even tho a 5 pointed star looks very texas ranger or gothy, Númenor was in the shape of a 5 pointed star so would the ranger star resemble that to show where they came from?

Swastikas, Flyfots, sunwheel etc all represent the sun and are multi armed. other then that i personally have not seen many deceptions of stars other then the classic 5 pointed star is paintings etc

Tangs are usually left softer then the rest of the sword so that they are able to flex a little as that is where most of the stress of the sword is placed and to most common part to fail. the offset of the pommel might have been been peened that way on purpose. there are quite a few late 11th and 12...
