I'm a bit of a visual learner. What are folks' thoughts on doing one of those maps where you can peg your name at your location? I'd love to have both an Earth one and Middle Earth one, so I can visualize where we all are, and where we might be concentrated. Anyone else interested? Also- anyone capable of making one?

I wouldn't be opposed to it.
I know there are also ones you can stick on the main page and it automatically keeps track of how many visits there are and roughly where they're from. They don't mark who it is though.

The main company that hosted this was frappr.com

Frappr no longer exists, unfortunately.

You can make a custom map on Google Maps, I'm just not sure if you can set it so anyone can edit it.

Okay, I took the liberty of going through the member list and looking up the locations listed in the profiles of the most prolific members (100 posts or more). Here's what I ended up with:

I *think* I've set it so that anyone can edit, so you should be able to add yourselves. Otherwise I'll have to invite "collaborators" using email addresses.

Awesome! From a quick glance, I think if we could do a moot somewhere around where Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia meet, we could get a decent number of us together.

Symmes Wildlife Area. I'll do some research...see what kind of permission we could get. Ironically, I think I live closest to it. Might take a trip out there to see what I can see.

Good work on the map, Chris!

When I go to Google maps and zoom in, I see a giant blotch of green with "Symmes Wildlife Area" in the middle. When I Google "Symmes Wildlife Area," I get a website for a dinky 114 acre area. But yes, the big blotch of green near Point Pleasant (Mothman!) looks inviting and very central to those of us east of the Mississippi.

The map worked for me, but I had to delete my placemarker and replace it. I do not live in Connecticut, I live in Western Massachusetts. It is correct now.

Great work on the map!

Talk about isolation Addreonynn. Haven't seen Elegost around these boards for a long time, and am seemingly the only ranger across the pond

Now that we've moved I'm looking hard into medieval re-enactment groups here, as any sort of real contact with like-minded individuals would do me great (something I haven't had living overseas before).

Tis hard being a lone ranger.

Strength before Weakness.
Journey before Destination.

Great work. To bad the Google Maps Treasure Map more isn't available all the time.

Next assignment is something like this: http://www.middle-earth-map.com/

It's based on Google maps, so something similar should be possible?
