Grievous loss
Grievous loss
Good Rangers,
My closest friend and Brother Paul Champagne died this morning at his house. He was recovering from a heart attack suffered almost two weeks ago. It was with Paul that I began my historical research into Middle Earth. Paul had studied Tolkien since his teens and was truly a subject matter expert. His knowledge of historical metallurgy and swords was amazing.
Paul was my Ranger buddy and companion through all of Middle Earth and will be missed.
Take Care,
Andy

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, Andy. A few years ago on another list I am on a young boy passed away who was a budding fan of Tolkien and Middle-earth, and this is the poem I wrote after his passing. I hope it helps.
Tarry Not at the Shore
Tarry Not at the Shore
When the White Ships set sail
we set our sights for Valinor
as we stand at the rail...
Tarry Not with long goodbyes
for the Company departs
Into the West where eternity lies
to heal broken hearts.
Tarry Not in pain and sorrow
for the Road beckons now
we head for the long tomorrow
as white caps break upon our bow.
Tarry Not child of man
we have room left for you
come aboard and take the hand
we have many tasks left to do.
Tarry Not at the Shore
we're off to a better place
you'll live with us forevermore
here beyond time and space...

"Well, what are you waiting for? I am an old man, and have no time for your falter! Come at me, if you will, for I do not sing songs of dastards!"
Andy, I was just thinking of contacting you yesterday. I wish I had now. I am very sorry to hear of your loss and that of his family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I've read the name Paul Champagne in many of your posts and I know he was dear to you.

Andy, I’m so sorry for your loss of such a good friend. The immense meaning for you to call him Your Ranger Buddy is not lost on me.
Paul was on my short-list of folks whom I hoped to meet. He makes swords the old way; hammer, anvil, & forge. A true sword-smith. When I joined the boards & learned of your friendship and his interest in ME, bonus!
I have an iGoogle widget, for “The Wisdom of Kung Fu.†This was the quote that came up this morning:
"Before we wake, we cannot know that what we dreamed does not exist. Before we die we cannot know that death is not the greatest joy." -Caine
Godspeed, Brother.

Near is the hour when the Lost should come forth, And the Grey Company ride from the North.
