Diamond fly tent project

Post by dwayne davis »

Hello all, i recently finished a tent project i have been working on, specificly a diamond fly shelter. basicly i took a 10 oz weight painters tarp from lowes, and with some work turned it into a shelter. the tarp started as a 12x9 which i cut down to 9x9. i sewed a reinforcement patch in the center with a tie strap. then each corner received a tie loop for stakes or rope. ill provide pics as soon as i can. now the only thing left to do is water profing it and making a ground cloth, also water profed.

Here is an article about a method of making a tent using a 9x12 tarp. I still haven't had time to try it, but I will as soon as I get home.
Still round the corner there may wait a new road or a secret gate and though I oft have passed them by a day will come at last when I shall take the hidden paths that run west of the moon, east of the sun.

Thanks for sharing. I plan to pick up one of those canvas dropcloths from Home Depot next week, so it's helpful to gain inspiration from how other Rangers are implementing them before I start experimenting myself.
