A highly-underrated film

Post by appalachianranger »

Does anyone else recall the 1998 NBC film Merlin starring Sam Neill?
I remember it fondly from my younger days, and when I sat down to watch the DVD for the first time in years I realize that they really did a good job with the folklore and even the historical accuracy to a degree.
Personally I have always thought Merlin the most interesting of the figures from the legends, and this was the only film to date to have really brought his story forth well.
But sadly very few people seem to remember it because it was a straight to TV film miniseries that arrived too early to ride the Lord of the Rings/ Harry Potter wave.
How do others feel about it?

I have been trying to figure out what that movie was for some time, I loved it and its sequel. I can barely remember anything about either though. Both are worth watching.
