Autumn 2022 now available!

Post by Udwin »

The members of the MERS are proud to announce the latest issue of Edge of the Wild is now available!

Check it out by direct PDF download HERE, or browse this and past issues on the Newsletters section of our website. Please share freely among your circles, consider joining our subscription mailing list, and give us a like on Facebook and Instagram.

We had originally intended for this issue to release in early August, in hopes of heading off You-Know-Who's "Second Age" show by a month or so, but crafting big projects like the one on page 6 tends to take longer than expected ; )
If this issue feels a little A.Hollis-heavy, it's not narcissism or egomania! It's simply what happens when I set off last year on an AT thruhike with an idea of creating a 2A impression, followed by six months with nothing to do but hike and research via audiobooks and lectures...a big chunk of my articles were first drafted on a phone in our tent before bed each night. Since everyone else is focused on the Third Age, when we decided to ride Amazon's coattails this fall, guess who had two thumbs and reams of material ready to go? :P

For those interested in joining the Society at any tier, please see the link on the last page for our snazzy new Membership Application form!
What would you like to see covered in future editions? We'd love to put together a 'Questions about Middle-earth you've always had but were too afraid to ask!' section.

Happy reading!
Personae: Aistan son of Ansteig, common Beorning of Wilderland; Tungo Brandybuck, Eastfarthing Bounder, 3018 TA; a native Man of the Greyflood, c.850 SA

Oof that's a lot to get through - but looks like fascinating stuff! Can't wait to have time to dig through it in more detail.

But for a start ... that helmet is just amazing work! Have you sent pictures to any of the various Tolkien societies? I think they'd be delighted to see it!
Persona: Aerlinneth, Dúnedain of Amon Lendel c. TA 3010.

Really awesome :P
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.
