This stuff just continues to amaze. I had a lightweight woolen ruana that got a tear in the neck. Five years ago when I was just using linen thread for everything I'd have whipped the edges and patched it or something. With this stuff, I could basically just darn the rip together again. I might go back by proper daylight and clean things up a bit, but I'm pretty happy as is. The best part is it's kind of already fulling itself together around the darned area and smoothing itself out. It's not exactly good as new, but pretty close!

... just in case any of your ranger clothes need patching up, here's what I used -
that looks really nice Elleth, I've always used linen and cotton thread, just because it's what I can buy around here, but I will have to see if I can get some wool thread and give it a try
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.

I bought some wool thread a while back with the intention of using it to hand-stitch visible portions of a new cloak, but in the end I opted not to use it because it was surprisingly weak and I was worried it would break while I was sewing (to say nothing of the longevity of the final garment). I’m definitely going to have to check this stuff out, because I absolutely love the look of what you’ve done here!

Look for "Darning Wool" if you're after a thread you can sew with, its spun much tighter and finer then knitting or weaving yarns
