Went out for a trek today. My plan was for about five miles on trails. The goal was just getting some miles in and maybe work selecting and moving into a camp site. That changed😏 It ended up being 5.9 miles, only 1.1 on trails. While passing through a small vale I decided to follow it up the ridge and explore. This significantly lengthened the time out, but for the good. We've had a lot of rain lately so fire danger is moderate. I practiced fire making a few times. Took that all the way through getting the birds nest going. Still looked at camp site selection and how I would have a small group of Rangers occupy. I could have spent the entire day just exploring the woods.

What a great looking day :P

Thanks everyone for the kind words on my first 2 videos. Here's the 3rd, from the Southeast Rangers trip to Dockery Lake in May. Little different style with this one. No speaking, just music and nature sounds. Let me know what style you prefer, narration or quiet. I'm all caught up on trek videos for now. I need to get out more (but willing to wait for the crazy summer heat to pass) and I'll also have some DIY videos as well.

In the mountains near my home, someone put together a small rock labyrinth. I hiked up there this past Friday and managed to get a few shots.

The trail was a stream bed for the first part, and some fallen trees made for some fun balance practice.

Image
It was a very steep ascent - up to a point, when the trail went through a gentle bowl of scrub oak forest. I didn't get shots of that: will have to go back again and get some.

A view from the labyrinth...

And a couple views of the labyrinth.
Glory be to God for dappled things

And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim. (Hopkins)

Just posted a little more in-depth about this over on the FB group, but I figured I’d share a few pics here as well! Last Sunday we visited one of my favorite haunts: Three Mile Creek Trail near the town of Grant, CO, and Guanella pass, which is always just an absolutely gorgeous experience! We did run into a few other “mundane” folks, but not too-too many - for whatever reason Three Mile seems to be a bit of a hidden gem, since it doesn’t really have any huge sweeping lookout points, or big dramatic waterfalls. Even so, the woods there are always so lush, it’s easy to get lost in the fantasy!
We encountered some signs of moose and beavers, and the trail was lined heavily with wild strawberry plants, but we only found two tiny un-ripe fruits.
We ended by reconvening back down in the town of Conifer at a local eatery for some dark ale and virtues! Overall, a really lovely outing!
If you get the chance to check out the Facebook post, there are a lot more pictures, as well as some videos over there!

It seems like these days I only get out in kit for product photoshoots, but I'll take any excuse I can get.

I look forward to your product placement photoshoots, regardless of context! It all looks fantastic.

I'll echo the other question...being from L.A. originally, I'm dying to know where you guys went for these.

Thanks!
These were taken at lake Fulmor in Idyllwild, about 45 minutes up the mountain from Riverside.

I KNEW IT! I had Idyllwild in my head the whole time I was flipping through them! I camped there as a kid all the time...I grew up in Glendora.
