It looks like it was taken by Steven Carter near Crescent City, Califormia.
Would it hurt if we had a contest for wilderness photography?

Haha... yeah, I actually noticed that a while back, but I didn't say anything because, darnit, it's just such a beautiful picture! But I do think having a sort of rotating front page pic would be cool, if that's possible. I know I sent several that could theoretically work, and I'm sure others did as well. Middle Earth has roads. Im happy to photoshop out the modern highway barrier if no one else wants to: ten minute job.
