One of the best "survival" shows I've seen on TV lately has been "Survive the Tribe" on Nat Geo. The first season ran in 2014, and it's coming back in 2016 as "Primal Survivor" (a much better choice of names IMHO):

In the program Hazen Audel visits several tribes around the world and participates in their daily lives. He learns about their survival tactics. So instead of a "survival expert" lecturing us, we see how the original primal people live in the wild.

Primal Survivor
There are no safe paths in this part of the world. Remember you are over the Edge of the Wild now, and in for all sorts of fun wherever you go.
