New Leather Bottle

Post by caedmon »

Been meaning to post this for a while. Here are some pics of a bottle I put together back in December, but still haven't coated in Brewers Pitch. I'm rather proud of it, as I was able to actually force myself NOT to slavishly follow an extant historical model.

Don't quite know, Haven't finished the inside, so I can't put any water in it. I think about 2 1/2 - 3 cups.

Peter asked for a link to a How-To for leather bottle making. I guess here is as good a place to put it as any.

I hate bringing up an old thread, but I found this and figured this was the best place to put it. If I'm wrong, feel free to move it. :) The tutorial will take you step by step for a usable leather bottle, from start to finish. And it also has a template to print out and use. One of the best tutorials I've seen to date. :D

Now that the thread has been resurrected though, I'm bummed I can't see the pics, haha.
But seriously, that's a great tutorial! I've really got to try my hand at one of those.

I bought 100% pure bees wax from one of the people on the Armour Archives. You can get it in like 2lb and 1/2lb blocks.

This thread is one of the ones he posted on and you can ask him about it. http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB3/ ... 6#p2180246

I'll agree to that. Excellent source, thank you for it. I also found a local beekeepers association near here ... I didn't even know we had a beekeepers association. Lol. :D
