Yes, yes, and yes! I’ve long desired something of the quality of Elleth’s Bree pennies and this is just what I was imagining. Count me in!

I can't quite make out what the design is on the Celtic quarter but I really dig the other three! I can definitely see the Elizabethan as something Gondorian, divided into 4 tharni as it is, while the Wotan head coin makes me think of something the Dunlendings would've had (assuming they had coinage, which might be doubtful), and the Northumbrian feels, as you say, Northmanish. I'd be down for a small set in a variety of metals as well!

Struggling with some health issues lately but still working on things. Managed to get an order of a hundred mixed coins to round out my purse and couldn't resist sharing a photo.

I've also asked Gulli to craft me a key to the dwarf cache where I keep the rest of my hoard to round out the staggeringly wealthy nature of my pocket trash

It may be strange to some, but here in the States I always use the Gold colored U.S. Dollar. It has an oldish look due to the gold tint but has real utility value in the sense I can really buy things with it while being more true to character. I think it's better than pulling ut a paper currency or a plastic card.

I also have some silver rounds and have used them from time to time. It may surprise you how many people will accept them as payment.

That is a very realistic portrayal of a travelers coin selection, Different coins from different places. Looks like a picture from a museum display on a recovered Viking hoard.

I have obtained over the years a few original medieval coins off e-bay. They all came from shops in the UK .The prices were not bad for coins from the middle ages in relatively good condition. I am talking about small silver coins selling for about 25-30 dollars.

I don't find using the dollar coins strange. They are used often by myself and others at Old West reenactment events.

actually it makes a lot of sense, when I was in high school I went to a LARP where they had an in character market but you had to swap real money for "coin of the realm" first and you/vendors could trade it back again after (kinda like casino chips), in theory it was a great idea but in practice the "coin of the realm" of choice was a wholesale buy of cheap plastic fantasy coins, I found my self wishing they had just said use real coins, at least they are metal LOL

also US dollar coins do have a good fantasy look to them

You should of gone to Maelstrom, Four different currences each with a range of coins and all made from metal.

Very nice stuff! Such an eclectic collection certainly befits such a seasoned traveler as Eofor!

I have given some serious consideration of minting my own coins of Silver, Gold, Platinum, Copper. I figure each coin should have a hole in it so it can be put on a rod or rope or necklace. I would make one Triangular, one Round, one Square, one Hexagon.

For fantasy adventures they wouldn't even have to be made of precious metals.

Well not to totally necro-post here again, but I finally broke down and placed an order to the Shire Post Mint for 7 different coins - 1 Gondorian penny in copper, 1 Gondorian penny in silver, 1 silver Gondorian crown (which I think is supposed to essentially be a “Castar?”), and 4 brass shire tuppence coins. Now, combined with the 4 copper Dwarven pennies from Erebor I received from Gulli for this past Yuletide gift exchange, and the copper Bree penny I got a while back from Elleth, that makes a dozen coins from across Middle-earth, in all different denominations and different materials! My coin-purse should have a nice jingle to it from here on out! I like the fact that the Gondorian coins are designed to commemorate the coronation of King Elessar, which helps date my persona right at the very beginning of the 4th Age. I also appreciate that all the different coins will feature distinctive design elements, made by different people, so they really do look to be collected from all over. My only wish is that I was able to get one or two “gold” coins from somewhere like Gondor or Rohan - but I may have to nab a couple in jeweler’s brass from the place Eofor mentioned sometime, just to round out my collection.
