Caedmon's Smithy
Caedmon's Smithy
Just reconfigured my smithy for a set of homeschool blacksmithing classes my wife & I are giving, thought I'd share the pics. Not entirely period, but it is non-electric.
The big changes are the new sawyer's anvil and that all anvil stands are sunk into the ground. The main anvil, and the post vise are both sunk more than 2 feet.

That looks so amazing
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

Awesome setup. Looks like a great configuration for teaching.
Now the sword shall come from under the cloak.

Very nice ! Plenty of room to walk around and access each anvil from all sides.

We have two classes 6 week classes, one with 9-10 year olds and one with 13-14 year olds (and a beefy 10 year old younger brother)Elleth wrote:Cool!

We are starting with fire pokers/hot dog sticks (because... swords), then we'll do hooks and finish with leaf charms/keychains. If everything goes really well, we'll add nails at the end. but that's stretching it.
