Greetings Forum!

Brand new to the forum and figured I would introduce myself. Sean, or Eólfur if you like. I am a Viking Age Reenactor as well as a Viking Martial Arts teacher/researcher. Former Renaissance Festival Performer/Entertainer. For traditional skills, I typically like to "try my hand" at just about anything in order to be able to confidently talk about a craft/skill to the general public, but love doing period work working as well as dabbling a bit in blacksmithing (aside from teaching fighting that is).

I live and work in the Twin Cities Metro area of Minnesota and originally grew up in Northern Minnesota in "The Ice Box of the Nation".

I was very pleased to find that a group like this existed. Haven''t settled on an impression yet as I want to do more reading & research on the various cultures and timeperiods of Tolkien'Middle Earth. Definitely looking forward to switching it up from heading out in my Viking Age gear. Look forward to chatting with all of you.

Regards,
Eólfur

Greetings!

... It occurs to me the Forodwaith might be a good place to start looking for impressions, if you want a nice tie in to your surrounding area.

Whoa! Hold up . . . this isn't Northern Canada here! lol

A very interesting group for sure. I'll have to read up more on it.

A couple photos of the soft kit I have for my Viking Age Reenactment as well as a photo of our photoshoot with come Icelandic Horses that we did back in March. This is my wool stuff and I do have linen as well. I'll be using this as I start to build out my Éothéod impression.

Thank you, it was a lot of fun. Really just want to go ride them in kit for a day.

I absolutely love these horses. For their size they are very sturdy animals. They are similar to Shetland ponies, which were used as one of the horses that played Bill the Pony in LOTR and The Company's ponies in The Hobbit trilogy.

Wes þu hal Eólfur and welcome to the forums. It's always nice to see more Eorlingas emerging from the mists of the internet.

I had the chance to ride them in Iceland a few years back and all I could think was how much I wanted to be in historical clothing! They are beautiful animals and that tolt they have is really something else.

It definitely took me a bit to get used to the way they move vs other breeds of horses. Sturdy little animals.
