There really isn't much you can do about the weight of these materials.

Alpaca wool blankets are warmer and lighter. You can save some weight on the blankets. You can get them new at reasonable prices. The Bandita Blanket from https://www.alpaca4less.com/search.php? ... on=product are good for the outdoors. Their best sale of the year is coming up next month. They are also very comfortable.

But there is not much you can do about the canvas.

You can get Egyptian cotton, but that's very expensive.

I'm not sure that you can even get it in the quantity you will need, but Ventile cotton is lighter and wouldn't require waxing. It is uber expensive.

Most "Cowboy Rolls" weren't even carried on their horses--they were carried in wagons.

Hmmm... it depends on how authentic you want to be, but you could just sub in a modern tarp made by DD or something to keep the weight down?
