Bow sources

Post by hesinraca »

So I know I'm new and feel free to fill in anything I miss, but I've been shooting (bow) for about 8 years. Besides which I am currently training in horseback archery with a very good friend of mine in the Pacific Horde Mounted Archery group centered in Bend OR, USA. She has at least 9 years with a bow and ehr teacher Lukas has at least 20.

A good source for bows that are reliable is this site:
http://www.eastern-archery.com/grozerframe.html
Only problem is that almost any Kasai bow any of the three of us have touched has been much lower quality then they claim, so I'd highly recoment against them. We have two broken ones simply from normal use of less then 2 years.

Lukas himself makes extremely good quality bows, so if the style you want is horsebow then having shot one of his for 3 days straight at an expo I can vouch for its quality. http://www.salukibow.com/

Rudder bows has been mentioned, good for the price but not entirely reliable in terms if their description. I have their (not discontinued?) ranger bow which is a resin-canvass backed oak bow and it works well, very solid, but there were some details like the string quality and the "detailed lightning pattern" which were not done well (string is poorly weaved and the lightning pattern is a metalic-gold sharpie zig zag which i rubbed off).

My flat bow is from Tom at Ancient Archery. They're not cheap in price but it is a fast and accurate bow. It's 75lb, rawhide backed hickory.
