The bows Iv'e owned have been a Kassi from Horsebows.com and a bamboo backed Epe flatbow from Rudderbows.com, which is my current bow. I highly recommend rudder bows. My bow is very smooth shooting and to me looks just beautiful. It doesn't hurt that the customer service is great too. As has been said before, welcome to the forum. I think you'll have a great experience here, I know I have.

Thanks for the tip! The Rudderbows look great, and the prices are reasonable. I'll probably end up having to get two bows anyway (his and hers, as it were), so I might have to give them a try.

Solid hickory makes a decent bow, but it won't have the speed (or "zing", as I like to call it) that a Bamboo-backed-Ipe bow would have.

Welcome Duathen. We need a moderator's warning- you know, like the surgeon general's warning?- about how addictive some of this stuff is. Bladesmithing and leatherwork have trapped me in their stucky webs since I got on here. Of course I worked with leather when I was in my early teens.

Glad to have you here. Glad to see that you are diving into the conversations.
